BEGINNING GUITAR CLASS

10-16

This class is designed for anyone wanting to play acoustical or electric guitar.  It teaches music fundamentals and includes both rhythm and lead playing.  It introduces musical symbols, chord charts, and tablature with an emphasis on musicianship.  No previous skills are required.  Students must furnish their own instruments.

CONTINUING GUITAR

10-16

This course is for students who can already play a few chords proficiently.  Students will continue learning how to read musical notation, chords, and tableture with an emphasis on performing solos and participating in group ensembles.  Students will focus on building song repertoires as well as developing right and left hand techniques.   Each session will have a new music theme.  Some guitar experience is necessary.  Students must furnish their own instruments.

URBAN ARTS

12+

This workshop series embraces Urban Arts as a culture and tool for community building while providing an outlet for young artists of all kinds.  Students are exposed to a variety of music, dance and art in workshops taught by leading artists in: Turntablism, Break Dance, Hip Hop, Mural Design,Writing Music and Poetry, Spoken Word/Emceeing, Music Recording and Production.  Youth will plan and implement community events and service projects reflecting these art forms.

Instead of making a trap for the leprechaun on St Patrick's Day, let's welcome them by making them a home.  We will use found objects, cardboard, tin cans, fabric and all kinds of materials to fashion a cozy home for the wee folk and we'll learn some leprechaun lore.
