HOW TO DRAW ANIME

Are you interested in drawing and want to know more about anime and comic drawing?  This class will teach a few basic techniques for drawing anime style characters.  Students will draw and create their own character and explore creating their own comic book.

Students will be introduced to new challenges each week which will enhance basic engineering skills, creating simple machines, and encourage artistry. YOUNG SCIENTISTS IN TRAINING

Young Scientists in Training is a new series of four week workshops that meet once a week on Wednesdays to explore chemistry, biology, natural and general science. These hands-on workshops guide young scientists through the exciting world of science.

 

LAB RATS – UNLEASHED!

Young scientists need to be sharp with their lab skills in order to accurately examine the world around them. This workshop will get Young Scientists in Training up to speed on scientific laboratory safety, methods and procedures. They will learn how to measure accurately, use a microscope and techniques to dissect. Young Scientists in Training will use the same tools used by professional scientists.

 

MIX + FIZZ = REACTION!

Chemical reactions are FUNdamental to life and can also be very entertaining. Young Scientists in Training will explore acid-base reactions, finding out the acidity in different foods, identifying presence of macromolecules in food and generating CO2, electricity and heat through cool and entertaining experiments

 

BIG MAMA EARTH

Nature is found in all forms of life. Young Scientists in Training will discover how everything on Earth is connected through different cycles and interactions. They will investigate and analyze the ways humans interact with nature. Environmental issues that affect the earth will be explored. Together, we will discover ways to keep Big Mama Earth healthy.

 

BUG OFF!

Natural curiosity and fierceness make kids the ultimate bug experts. Young Scientists in Training will practice field techniques used by entomologists (bug scientists) to collect and observe bugs. They will develop research questions, survey nearby natural areas, collect and analyze their findings, and record it in their field journals. Did you know bugs are the largest group of animals in the world?

SPECTRUM YOGA AND MEDITATION

This special kids yoga class is orientated towards children on the Autism Spectrum as well as mainstream kids. For 30 minutes we focus on our breath, asanas (poses), sequencing, and meditation. Ages 4 to 22 welcome, with 2 separate classes offered. Class B is for beginners, children who prefer more time to learn, and non-verbal kids. Class F is for fast paced learners or those with experience. Students will be divided into the two groups the first day of class.

Yoga and meditation provides emotional regulation, tantrum reduction, total homeostasis, physical endurance, confidence, increased communication, & encourages social participation. Classes are a combination of yoga systems. We begin with a tune-in and setting of intention, warm-up, individual and partner asanas, dance, mantra, and meditation.
