CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY

This course explores the practice of photography as a means of creative expression accessible to anyone. The focus is on using the core principles of photography — exposure, composition, color, and contrast — as a toolset for unique and personal creative expression. This course will also cover the fundamentals of digital image post-processing, on Mac/PC and on mobile.  A collaborative roundtable discussion of the work assigned and subjects discussed is a key element of the course and important for creative growth.

NOTE    An honest, compassionate, and respectful environment is strictly enforced.

Equipment: Students must have a DSLR or Mirrorless (non-fixed lens) camera with the ability to shoot RAW/DNG files. 
Software:    Students may use the editing software of their choice, with Adobe Lightroom and Capture One being the main professional solutions. Affinity Photo is strongly recommended as a full featured alternative which offers a 90 day trial and has been offered at 50% discount for duration of pandemic - $25/permanent license. On mobile, Snapseed is recommended. (Free)

CREATIVE WRITING FOR SHORT MEDIA

This course provides an intro to the process of creative writing for short form video. Students will explore story, narrative, message and voice while writing for a variety of audiences, platforms and purposes. Students will learn the process and unique requirements of writing for short form narrative (short and micro short film), traditional and modern documentary, commercial, informational and journalistic pieces. Students will be expected to write consistently throughout the course. A collaborative roundtable discussion of the work assigned and subjects discussed is a key element of the course and important for creative growth.

LEARN TO KAYAK

“Seize The Day” and leave your worries behind you! This small group class is the easiest way for anyone to try kayaking. Our stable kayaks and experienced instructors will show you how simple, safe, and fun kayaking is.

KAYAKING FOR BOOMERS 50+

Kayaking is great for fitness or escaping the hustle and bustle and it’s easy on the joints and body. We use very stable, user friendly kayaks making it easy for anyone to participate in a small group, stress-free paddle.

KNOTTY KNITTERS & CROCHETERS

We gather each Thursday to share the joy of knitting and crocheting. Our knitters and crocheters have all levels of experience from making dishcloths, sweaters, and shawls. Although there is no instructor, beginners are welcome.

We take a little more time to get into each pose, offering modifications for everybody. This gentle class offers a fun and safe environment to work on balance and strength.

TABLE TENNIS

Wednesdays are competitive group round robin play. Fridays are “open” play with no set structure - play with others or bring a friend, we have loaner paddles, balls and tables to use.

Create a 4 ft tall welcome sign. Students will use wood stains, stencils, and paints to make a beautiful porch sign, perfect for welcoming summer guests.

Framed Canvas Sign

Create a custom framed 21x16 inch canvas sign. Students will stain a wooden frame, prepare vinyl in their choice of an inspirational quote or pattern, then press vinyl onto canvas and frame.

Plank Wood Sign

Create a 20x16 inch plank wood sign. Students will use wood stains, a custom stencil, and paints to make a rustic sign.

Bead and Faux Leather Making

Grab your bestie and make a set of faux leather earrings and a woven bead bracelet.

 

 

 

 

AUGUST 6

Wood Serving Tray

Create a custom 16x10 inch serving tray. Perfect for entertaining. Students will use wood stain, as-semble serving trays, then personalize with a custom stencil and paint.

 

 

 

 

AUGUST 20

Beer and Bottle Opener

Using wood, wood stains, stencils and paint, students will create a 12x5 inch beer/bottle opener with a box for caps. Perfect for a date night or as a gift for your favorite beer drinker.
