DISCOVERY CLUB Grades K-6

Weimar CharterAre you looking for a safe, creative and fun environment for your elementary school-aged child during the school year? Our state licensed before and after school Discovery Club programs are located at Auburn, Newcastle, Placer Hills and Skyridge Elementary schools. Our committed staff fulfills all licensing requirements: 18 years of age or older, CPR/1st aid certified, DOJ clearances, ECE units+. Kindergarteners are safely escorted to and from their classrooms, or met at the bus stop (Placer Hills) by experienced staff. Healthy snacks are served daily. Homework assistance, arts and crafts, sports, cooking, community service projects, and personal enrichment are just some of the great activities awaiting your child. Please contact the site for space availability.

DISCOVERY DAY CAMP

funDiscovery Day Camp operates at the Day Camp modulars at Recreation Park on most school closures (except snow days and major holidays) for kindergarten through sixth grade. Hours of operation are 7am to 6pm Registration is $20 per family for the 2010-2011 school year for children not already enrolled in our Discovery Club. Cost is $28 per day, $30 for drop-in if space is available. Day Camp Handbooks will be available at the day camp modulars.

Full day camp hours: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Part-day camp hours: 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

Jr HillmanThis program is great opportunity for young teens to receive on-the-job training under the direction of our Discovery Day Camp staff by plugging into our program in areas such as working hands-on with groups, preparation for events, preparing snacks and other responsibilities as they arise. CITs are included in all day camp activities and field trips (see website for details). We offer a summer of fun and personal growth for your student, and a chance to explore the possibility of becoming a future Program Leader with Summer Day Camp.

Note: All fees apply. Registration $20 (waived for CIT with sibling in Camp)
ALL DISCOVERY DAY CAMP REGISTRATION MUST BE DONE AT THE PARK.

DISCOVERY SUMMER DAY CAMP AT RECREATION PARK 

Ages 6 to 12 (completed kindergarten)

We’ve planned a great summer of swimming, field trips and events, sports and creative adventures in a safe, fun environment with trained staff and low camper-to-staff ratios. Healthy afternoon snacks are provided. Students bring lunch and a morning snack. Our mornings are reserved for theme activities and events. Swimming and Camper Clubs are scheduled for afternoons. Field trip days and times may vary, are subject to change and may involve an extra fee. Check with the Day Camp Director in advance of field trips.

Notes Registration $25/Family; Announcing-A special 10-10:30 swimming lesson time for day campers. Your child will be walked to and from group or private swimming lessons at the 10- 10:30am time only. Sign up is separate.

June 14-18   Super Safe Summer Water safety, stranger danger, animal safety and bike safety events. Swimming and swim tests begin the first day.
June 21-25   Let’s Get Physical Obstacle course, wacky water games, canyon hike (older campers) and Skyzone (younger campers) on Thursday. Friday Bike Day
June 28-July 2   Born in the USA Cruise the USA. Taco Bar lunch Monday. Toy Story 3 movie (all campers) on Thursday. Friday Bike Day
July 6-9   State Fair Create an all-camp ‘State Fair Carnival’ for Friday with sno cones, popcorn, games, contests and blue ribbons.
July 12-16   Black Tie Affair Experience the ‘red carpet’ walk like a celebrity. Sunsplash (older campers) on Thursday. Black Tie event on Friday.
July 19-23   Robots, Monsters & Aliens Create your own robot, monster or alien for our virtual ‘showdown.’ Bowling/arcade at Strikes (all camp) on Thursday. Friday Bike Day
July 26-30   Time Warp Travel through time all the way to King Arthur’s Court. ‘Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ movie (older campers) on Thursday. Water Battle for the Castle on Friday– wear your swimsuit!
August 2-6   Day Camp’s Got Talent Polish your hidden talent& audition for the Talent Show on Friday. ‘Cats & Dogs’ movie (younger campers) on Thursday.
August 9-13   Day Camp Survivor Prepare to compete at Friday’s Tribal Council at the rock wall and inflatable course challenge. No one gets voted off this island!
